Summer brings many pleasant moments: lots of sun, the best time for vacations and travel. But even despite all the advantages for the car, there are risks. High temperatures can cause breakdowns for the car. Today we will tell you in detail what issues car owners face in the heat.

One of the most common problems is engine overheating. At high temperatures, the cooling system works at the limit, accordingly, the coolant level can decrease, and the radiator becomes clogged with various debris. Also, the thermostat can often fail, which entails a violation of the fluid circulation, followed by engine overheating. In order to avoid such a malfunction, it is necessary to carry out maintenance in a timely manner.

Another equally important component in the car is the water pump. In hot weather, it operates under increased load conditions, and its failure leads to a violation of the fluid circulation. Strange sounds when the engine is running or the presence of liquid under the car indicate a breakdown of the water pump. In such a situation, it is worthwhile to carry out prompt diagnostics, and if necessary, replace the wire rollers, replace the pump or belt.

Before leaving home, it is also worthwhile to make sure that the air conditioner is working properly. The main symptoms of a breakdown of the air conditioning system can be a clogged cabin filter or a radiator cooling cassette, and another reason may be insufficient freon. According to the regulations, the cabin filter should be replaced every 10 thousand km or once a year.

If you have an old car that is not equipped with air conditioning (for example, an old Audi or BMW), there is only one way to escape the heat in the car - open the windows. It is better to open the windows on one side of the car, since drafts are fraught with colds.

Leaving a car in the summer at high temperatures also has its nuances. Of course, there is a temptation to leave your car in the shade somewhere under a tree. If there is no shade nearby, it is worth covering the dashboard and the front of the car with a reflective curtain. If possible, also cover the rear and side windows.

In summer, cars can be damaged by a variety of items, such as aerosol cans or lighters. Because of the high temperatures, they can explode. It is better not to leave them unattended in the car.

Also, car owners know that in the summer, you need to regularly check the tire pressure. Hot air in the middle of the wheels can burst the tires. For this reason, it is worth reducing the pressure in the tires.

Remember about drinks, in a hot car the temperature can be perceived as higher than it actually is, so remember to take something to drink with you (mineral water or isotonic drinks).
