In recent years, Toyota has made huge strides in updating its model range, especially in the crossover segment, where competition has become particularly fierce. After the successful restyling of the Toyota RAV4, which firmly established itself as a people's SUV, the company decided not to stop there. Now the news about the return of the Toyota Venza is becoming louder - but not just in the form of the previous model, but in a completely new, more elegant look, which should seriously compete with cars such as the BMW X4, Mercedes GLC Coupe and Audi Q5 Sportback. According to the Japanese publication Best Car, the debut of the new Toyota Venza is scheduled for 2027, and this time it is not just about cosmetics or an interior update, but a radical change in the concept of the model itself. If earlier Venza was perceived as an intermediate option between the RAV4 and Highlander, now the emphasis is on style, sophistication and premium materials. The new body is in the cross-coupe format, with a sloping roofline and more dynamic shapes than the angular RAV4. Apparently, the new generation Venza will be developed in parallel with the Harrier model, aimed at the Japanese market, and both cars will receive a common TNGA-K platform, which indicates serious unification while maintaining a bright external character.
The new 2027 Toyota Venza is expected to grow in size - its length will be about 4750 mm, the wheelbase will increase to 2770 mm, and the height will decrease to 1550 mm, which will visually further emphasize the coupe style. Inside, according to rumors, we are in for a real upgrade: new seats, soft trim, neat lighting and an enlarged multimedia display - at least 12.9 inches. Also, the basic or extended equipment will include modern driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, all-round cameras and an updated road sign recognition system.
The technical equipment promises to be no less interesting. Toyota is actively promoting its hybrid technologies, and the new product will almost certainly be available with hybrid power plants. This could be either a regular hybrid or a version with the ability to recharge from a socket (PHEV). Perhaps we will see a familiar power scheme from the current Camry or RAV4, but modified for the dynamic layout of the cross-coupe.
It is interesting that the return of the Venza coincides in time with the global trend of "premiumization" of even mass-produced models. And if earlier Toyota was associated primarily with reliability, now more and more attention is paid to comfort, silence in the cabin, interior design and even the emotional appeal of the models. The new body of the Venza may just be the car that will appeal to those who previously looked at German cross-coupes, but did not want to pay extra for the brand.
Time will tell how successful this step will be. But it is already possible to say that Toyota seriously intends to strengthen its position in the class of stylish crossovers. And if the new product really gets powerful and economical hybrid engines, a spacious interior and modern electronics, it has every chance of winning the attention of buyers who are looking for something more than just another SUV.
