Mercedes-Benz is actively working on updating its range of electric vehicles and will soon introduce two new models of luxury minivans that will replace the current version of the EQV. We are talking about promising developments under the code names VLE and VLS, created within the framework of the new VAN.EA architecture, specially designed for commercial and passenger transport with an electric power plant. Numerous prototypes have already repeatedly been captured by camera lenses, which allowed independent experts to form a fairly accurate idea of the future appearance of new products. The appearance of the VLE largely inherits the features of the conceptual model Vision V, including a wide relief panel instead of a traditional radiator grille, narrow and angular headlights, united by a thin LED strip, as well as a bumper with chrome accents. The athletic profile with a strongly inclined windshield and a smoothly falling roof line gives the car a dynamic and modern look, while the rear part received original Halo-style lights and beveled lines of the trunk lid, which adds sculptural expressiveness and volume to the overall silhouette.
According to insiders, the interior of electric cars will also fully comply with the highest standards of the brand, borrowing many elements from the serial EQS and the Vision V concept. The central place in the cabin will be occupied by the innovative MBUX hyperscreen, operating on the basis of the latest Mercedes-Benz MB.OS operating system, which will provide an unprecedented level of interaction with the driver and passengers. The manufacturer will pay special attention to the environmental friendliness of materials, using recycled leather, natural veneer and other sustainable components in the trim, which is in line with the brand's overall strategy to reduce its impact on the environment. Depending on the modification, the interior layout can vary from a classic three-row seating arrangement in the basic VLE version to individual captain's chairs and lounge-style seating areas in the more luxurious VLS version, focused on maximum comfort and personalization of space.
The technical equipment of the new models will include advanced driver assistance systems of the second level with the possibility of further upgrades, navigation with augmented reality, intelligent lighting and a premium Burmester audio system, which will emphasize the status of the models as flagships in their segment. Both models are built on the modular VAN.EA platform, consisting of three key sections, which allows for a wide range of vehicle dimensions and characteristics. Buyers are expected to be offered a choice between single- and dual-motor versions with a maximum power of up to 470 horsepower, and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 116 kilowatt-hours will provide a range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge, which is quite a competitive indicator for this class of vehicles. The official premiere of the Mercedes-Benz VLE and VLS is tentatively scheduled for the end of this year, with sales scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, which will allow the company to strengthen its position in the growing market for premium electric vehicles.
