The cost of used cars in Ukraine is constantly changing, and some models are more resistant to depreciation than others. The study showed that one of the most popular and stable models on the secondary car market in Ukraine is the Volkswagen Passat.

Volkswagen Passat is a car brand that many Ukrainians prefer to buy on the secondary market. Since the beginning of 2023, about 36 thousand people have purchased this model. The study found that the price of a used Volkswagen Passat decreases by approximately 8.76% per year. For example, if a 2010 car costs $10,650, after a year its value will drop to about $9,718.

The actual price of a car can vary significantly and depends on competitive offers on the used car market. Sellers usually take into account the offers of their competitors and mainly focus on them. The cost of a car is influenced by factors such as changes in legislation, fuel prices and exchange rates. These factors can cause prices to rise or fall for certain car models.

When buying a used car, buyers usually pay attention to its condition and mileage. The year of manufacture is also important when choosing a car. The vehicle's equipment level has little effect on its resale value. However, there are still price differences between the basic and top versions.

Among the cars that lose value the slowest, the Daewoo Lanos model is popular. Since this model has been out of production for a long time, the year of production does not have a significant impact on its value, but the condition of the car plays an important role in determining its price.

Experts note that budget and mid-budget cars are the slowest to lose value over time. Business class cars, on the contrary, are falling in price faster. In addition, among electric vehicles, one of the most stable models in terms of cost is the Nissan Leaf. Over the course of a year, this model loses approximately 10.18% of its resale value.

To analyze changes in the cost of cars over time, data on the 30 most popular brands and models of used passenger cars in Ukraine was used. The average annual percentage reduction in the value of cars from the original price was determined based on these data.
