The company, associated for decades with freedom, rebellious spirit and expensive powerful equipment, was faced with the need to reconsider its priorities. In a situation where young people are less and less interested in expensive cruisers, and competitors are actively promoting more affordable and compact models, it was decided to develop a new motorcycle that could change the situation. This is exactly the project that became the Sprint bike, which should go on sale this fall. It is expected that its cost will be only six thousand dollars, which makes it the cheapest model of the brand in recent years. Such a price will attract a new, younger audience, which previously did not consider Harley-Davidson as a realistic choice when buying a first motorcycle.
The new motorcycle is being created taking into account the legacy of the classic Sprint model, which was produced in the past. The developers do not disclose technical characteristics, but emphasize that the main goal is to convey the spirit of the original Harley, but in a modern, adapted form. The design promises to be bold, stylish and recognizable, which should benefit the brand. It is also known that production can be organized outside the United States, as was already done in the case of the X440 model, successfully sold in India. There, the bike was developed jointly with Hero MotoCorp and quickly became popular due to its affordable price and simple design. Probably, the new Sprint will follow a similar path, which will significantly reduce production and logistics costs.
The company is betting not only on price, but also on image. Harley-Davidson management emphasizes that the motorcycle is created not just as a means of transport, but as an expression of personal freedom and energy. The new Sprint is positioned as something more than just a budget model. This is an attempt to return Harley motorcycles to their former appeal, especially among those who are just beginning to be interested in biker culture. It is expected that in the future, along with the Sprint, another model will appear, made in the style of a cruiser, which will expand the range of available solutions and strengthen the brand's position in new market segments.
In addition, attention is also focused on the projects of the subsidiary brand LiveWire, which is responsible for the development of electric motorcycles. It is already known that in the near future, two production models will see the light of day, based on previously presented concepts. One of them will be designed for off-road riding, the second - for city roads. These electric motorcycles will accelerate to fifty kilometers per hour in three seconds, and their maximum speed will be eighty-five kilometers per hour. The power reserve, according to the stated data, will be up to one hundred and sixty kilometers. Despite the relatively modest characteristics, these models serve as an excellent addition to the overall strategy of updating the image of Harley-Davidson, and prove that the company is not afraid of experiments and is ready to adapt to new realities.
