New changes for drivers from January 1

Starting January 1, 2024, new changes aimed at improving the quality of road traffic and ensuring road safety became available to Ukrainian drivers. Now owners of new cars whose cost does not exceed 499,620 hryvnia must contribute 3% of the cost of the car to the state budget as a pension fee. If the cost of the car is up to 878,120 hryvnia, the pension fee increases to 4%. Cars costing more than 878,120 hryvnia are subject to a mandatory contribution of 5% of the cost. That's it.

Another innovation was an increase in prices for the services of service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Despite the increase in cost, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs promises to improve the quality of the services provided. Now driver candidates must pay 250 hryvnia for a theoretical exam and 420 hryvnia for a practical exam. The cost of issuing a driver's license is 230 hryvnia, and registration and re-registration of a car will cost 350 hryvnia.

It is also worth paying attention to strengthening control over drivers. Since January 1, 2024, 50 new cameras for automatically recording traffic violations have been installed. Now the total number of such cameras is 265, which makes it possible to more effectively monitor compliance with the speed limit and report violations.
