Skoda Superb doesn't give up: the Czech flagship is back

In recent years, the Ukrainian market has changed quite a lot: models that were recently associated with comfort, status and long trips began to disappear one after another. Mondeo, Mazda 6, Insignia, Talisman - all this now sounds like a list of retirees that you will no longer meet in a car showroom. And against this background, Superb remained almost the last fighter in the segment of large sedans and station wagons. It seemed that everything had already been said - after all, the model was presented back in July 2024, in Ukraine, order acceptance started in August, and interest seemed to have died down. But Eurocar unexpectedly reminded of itself again, revealing changes in the lineup, due to which it became clear: Superb will not give up its positions for a long time and will not give way to crossovers.

The car has changed, but remained itself - a recognizable image, without trying to become different, while the interior has noticeably stepped forward. Everything is built on the MQB platform, now with the Evo prefix, and the dimensions have only grown slightly: four centimeters in length, one and a half already - not a revolution, but the result is felt. The interior has become more mature, more refined. The usual elements like the selector on the tunnel have disappeared - now it is hidden near the steering wheel, like in expensive German models. The panel is strict, with a "floating" display, in top-end configurations - as much as 13 inches. But the main thing is the attention to detail: Smart Dials washers, which can be customized, again make the Simply Clever philosophy something tangible, and not an advertising slogan. Here you have an ice scraper, and parasols, and nets with hooks in the trunk - all this in 2025 still pleasantly surprises.

But the main surprise is the return of diesel. When it seemed that the European trend had finally buried TDI in our market, Superb makes a knight's move: a 2-liter turbodiesel with 193 horsepower and all-wheel drive is a real gift for those who still drive, and do not sit in traffic jams. There is also a basic diesel version with 150 horsepower, with front-wheel drive and a robot, and now the robot is on all versions - there will be no more mechanics. Hybrids have not yet been brought, but it is unlikely that anyone was seriously waiting for them.

As for the trim levels, everything is predictable, but balanced. The basic Selection already carries everything you need: a 10-inch sensor, LEDs, a rear-view camera, heating, a bunch of assistants - in short, everything you need to not feel "in the base". And if you want more, then there is Sportline and Laurin & Klement. The first is for those who want Superb, but in a more aggressive wrapper: black inserts, sports seats, anthracite trim. The second is luxury at its maximum: matrix optics, ventilation and massage of seats, Canton music, 14-position seats, materials that were previously only in the "premium". Everything is serious, everything is at a high level.

Prices? From 1,608,957 UAH for the basic diesel version of Selection. Sportline with the same engine is 245,000 more expensive. Laurin & Klement - from 1,873,006 UAH. Yes, it is not cheap, but compared to competitors, Superb has trump cards: all-wheel drive, diesel, station wagon - everything that Camry or Sonata do not have. And yes, this is still a real car for those who drive themselves, and not just move from point A to point B.
