Volkswagen has officially unveiled to the public the new ID. Cross electric car, the cost of which will start at twenty-eight thousand euros. The presentation of the new product took place as part of the events preceding the opening of the IAA Mobility international exhibition in Munich, where the car debuted as a concept model. It is expected that the production version of this electric car will appear next year, becoming a full-fledged electric alternative to the traditional T-Cross model, equipped with an internal combustion engine. According to experts, the new product will seriously compete with such expected market models as the Kia EV2, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Volvo EX30, since the German manufacturer has made a serious bet on this development, planning to take a significant share of the affordable electric car market. The new brainchild of the concern is built on the promising MEB + platform, which has already proven itself on other models, including the Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID.4, which guarantees the well-developed technical solutions and high reliability of the final product, especially considering its affordable price.
The overall dimensions of the new model are four thousand one hundred sixty-one millimeters in length with a wheelbase of two thousand six hundred and one millimeters, which is an excellent indicator for providing a fairly spacious interior. The width and height of the car are one thousand eight hundred thirty-nine and one thousand five hundred and eighty-eight millimeters, respectively, which together form a dynamic and stable silhouette of the car. The model is made in the new corporate style of the brand called Pure Positive, which is characterized by restrained but expressive forms, clean lines and a minimalist approach to design. However, it is not devoid of characteristic accents, such as a high hood and a wide glazing line, creating a feeling of spaciousness and freedom, as well as a slightly inclined roof with massive roof rails and a large spoiler, which emphasizes the sporty character of the model. Dark rear pillars and large twenty-one-inch wheels, shod with special Continental tires, complete the image of a modern and technological crossover, which will definitely not get lost in the intense city traffic.
The bumpers of the car are decorated with massive chrome trims, and the front and rear lights are made in a narrow elongated shape and connected to each other by a stylish LED strip, which is the hallmark of the new design language of the brand. It is noteworthy that on the sides of the body there is an original decor, which echoes in its pattern with the design of the wheel disks, which creates a feeling of integrity and thoughtfulness of each element of the exterior. The designers paid maximum attention to detail, so that even without the use of excessive chrome and bright accents, the car looked expensive and prestigious, which will undoubtedly be appreciated by a potential buyer looking not just for a vehicle, but for a stylish accessory that emphasizes his individuality and a modern view of mobility.
The interior of the electric car is quite spacious and comfortable, it has clear references to the ID.2all concept, which is manifested in the use of advanced digital technologies and ergonomic solutions. The cabin is equipped with an eleven-inch digital instrument panel and a massive square two-spoke steering wheel, which provides a comfortable grip and full control over the car. The central place in the control is occupied by a multimedia system with a thirteen-inch touch screen, under which the engineers integrated a number of physical buttons for quick access to the main functions, which increases driving safety, since it does not distract the driver from the road. The car also has a slot for wireless charging of a smartphone and multi-colored background lighting in the interior, creating the right atmosphere. The front seats are separated by a high central console, and the interior trim uses high-quality fabric in a pleasant Vanilla Chai shade, which adds coziness and a premium feel, especially considering the democratic segment of the model.
For the ID. Cross is equipped with one electric motor mounted on the front axle and delivering a power of two hundred and eleven horsepower, which allows it to reach a maximum speed of one hundred and seventy-five kilometers per hour. A power reserve of four hundred and twenty kilometers from one full battery charge is quite enough for everyday trips around the city and even for short trips outside of it, especially against the background of the actively developing infrastructure of charging stations throughout Europe. The serial version of this promising electric car is expected to go on sale next summer, and, given the stated price, which starts at twenty-eight thousand euros, we can safely predict high consumer interest and good sales, since it is the combination of German quality, modern design and affordable cost that is the key factor for success in today's competitive electric vehicle market.
